The Power of Consistency: Why I’m Launching N+1
For years, I’ve been meaning to write this post. It’s a reflection, a commitment, and the start of something I hope you’ll find both valuable and inspiring (and perhaps even entertaining in places).
In 2009, I launched my first blog at nikovijay.com, focused on business analysis—a field I was deeply immersed in at the time. Sharing my ideas felt rewarding, but looking back, I regret not maintaining the habit. If I had, I’d now have over a decade of insights documented, refined, and shared with a (hopefully) engaged audience.
The lesson? Consistency is key. That’s the ethos behind this newsletter, N+1. The name reflects my belief in small, iterative improvements—the next step, the next idea, the next version of ourselves.
My name is Niko (the “N”), and this newsletter represents my commitment to exploring self-improvement (+1) across four core themes:
The Four Pillars of N+1
1. Health: Reclaiming fitness and prioritising daily well-being.
2. Family: Being present and cherishing time with loved ones.
3. Wealth: Building financial & time independence to enable richer life experiences. This includes exploring alternative income streams—an area I’ll dive into frequently.
4. Home: Creating a nurturing environment for growth and well-being.
At the intersection of all of the above pillars will be innovation & technology. I’m an early adopter/geek when it comes to new technologies - this has always stood me in good stead so I’m keen to share the learnings I make with you all when I’m testing out new tools/processes/services.
Finally, I’m approaching 40—a milestone that’s both humbling and motivating. I’m fortunate to enjoy a fulfilling career as a Product Director at a well-known travel brand, but I recognise that nothing is guaranteed. This awareness drives me to take further ownership of my future and share my journey with you.
What I’m Thinking About
Here’s a taste of the current ideas shaping my focus across some of these themes:
Health
• Microplastics: The science is alarming. Microplastics can breach the blood-brain barrier, potentially causing long-term harm. I’ve recently been inspired by Episode 169 of the All-In Podcast to ditch single-use plastics like coffee cups and water bottles. Small changes, big impact. Glass is the way forward for me!
Wealth i.e. how the following themes could help me with this pillar…
• Blockchain’s Under Appreciated Role: Despite skepticism in mainstream circles, blockchain technology is quietly transforming industries. Companies are integrating it into operations, and I believe this shift is far from over.
• Agentic AI: AI systems making independent decisions will demand transparent, secure financial systems—potentially built on blockchain and crypto.
• Bitcoin as a Reserve Asset: In uncertain economic times, Bitcoin’s long-term strategic value remains compelling.
• Token-Gated Ecosystems: Blockchain is enabling new forms of collaboration through role-based access systems, and I’m eager to explore the implications for AI, governance, and beyond.
Innovation & Technology
I’m currently experimenting with AI-driven revenue streams. These experiments are as much about learning as earning—and I’ll share updates and insights in future posts.
Weekly Highlights
Each week, I’ll share links to a few ideas and stories that resonated with me. Here’s what stood out recently:
• Bitcoin: Could it hit $100K this year? Revisiting my 2017 article on Medium, it seems more relevant than ever. Plan B Predicts Bitcoin Still on Track to Hit $100K in 2024 Despite 'Early' Bull Market. The pseudonymous bitcoin analyst known as Plan B, known for his work on the “stock-to-flow” (S2F) bitcoin price model, believes bitcoin's market may have entered a bullish phase prematurely
• Jaguar’s Rebranding Fumble: What went wrong to lead to such an obviously bad advertising / branding campaign? I particularly enjoyed seeing various folks reimagining the advert with AI and some of the takes on X about it:
I truly hope Jaguar don’t end up being a case study in the future alongside the likes of Kodak!
• Inefficiencies in Government (and companies): Insights from Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy on why innovation struggles in bureaucratic systems. Whatever you may think about these two folks, their op-ed in the WSJ made for an interesting read and I think you’d be challenged to find fault in much of their thinking… If I was an American, I’d give DOGE a try, if only to see what inefficiencies it uncovers. The DOGE podcast is undoubtedly going to make for interesting watching/listening when they get up-and-running!
